Rob and I were really looking forward to Will's first bath in his "big boy tub". Since he couldn't be submerged in water until his umbilical cord dried up and fell off, we had to resort to sponge baths for the first couple weeks. The day after his belly button finally fell off, we anxiously gathered all the supplies and prepared for his first official bath. I undressed him and took off his diaper while Rob filled his tub. As I walked him, (bare bottomed) into the kitchen, I felt something warm and wet hit my foot. You guessed it, he was pooping! I quickly put my hand under his bottom and he continued to let loose. (Nice!) Once we got him into the tub, he screamed and cried the entire time. It seems he was not as thrilled about his first bath as Rob and I were. We tried to bathe him quickly since he was so upset and I must admit I was disappointed that he wasn't having a good time. However, since that day he has really enjoyed getting baths. I suppose he just wasn't prepared for the initial shock of being put into water. Now he lays perfectly still and smiles during bath time. The bedtime bath wash and lotion makes him sleepy and after a nighttime bath, he nurses and falls asleep easily. Now bath time is an event that I would like to think that he looks forward to it. I know I do! -Leslie-
