Vacation to Minnesota

Mommy, Daddy and I got up early one morning, jumped into a cab with all of our suitcases packed tight and headed to the airport to begin our journey to Minnesota. I was thrilled because I am a big fan of airplanes and there are LOTS of them there. I stood at the windows and watched them take off and land as we anxiously awaited our boarding time. About an hour after we went through security and had a quick breakfast, we finally got on the plane, made ourselves cozy in our seats and took off. I sat in Daddy’s lap by the window and got to look out at all the houses and cars as they got tinier and tinier. Then we rode up into the clouds and settled there for a while. I was so worn out from all of the excitement, I napped for a while in Daddy’s lap before we landed.

Shortly after arriving in Minnesota, we had to go back to the airport and pick up Aunt Steph. It was really good seeing her again and she kept me company in the back seat as the four of us drove a couple of hours to visit Great Grandpa and Grandma Munsell in this little bitty town called Franklin. I got to meet more of my family there and we all went out to a big dinner that night. I was so worn out from all the events of the day and Mommy said she was so proud of how well I handled it all. We stayed there for the night and the next day we got to visit the cows at the farm and pick sweet corn, which we ate for lunch that day. It was yummy and I ate a whole half of a cob by myself. We packed up we ate, kissed everyone goodbye and headed back to “The Cities” as Daddy calls them.

Friday was another very busy day for us. We went to the Minnesota State Fair and let me tell you, it was HUGE! I had no idea that it was going to be that big or that there would be so many people there. We saw on the news the next day that there were 186 thousand people there the day that we went. Wow! The fair is filled with rides and more food that you could ever imagine. We had cheese curds, pronto pups (or hotdogs as we call them in the South), catfish on a stick, homemade cookies, frozen grapes, bacon on a stick, steak sandwiches, fried pickles, fish tacos and honey ice cream with sunflower seeds. Before you start shaking your head wondering how we ate all of this food, l should tell you that we were at the fair for 9 hours that day and I, of course, just had a little sampling of everything and it was all delicious!

Mommy and I went down this humongous slide on a little straw carpet and I’m pretty sure it was a bit scary for the both of us. We were going so fast, I thought we might fly off. I also got to ride the carousel with Mommy and MeMa, but my favorite part of the fair was the John Deere exhibit where I climbed on each and every one of the tractors there to test out which one I thought was best. I’m still up in the air as to which one I would like to have. They were all pretty awesome!

After a very long day of fair food, rides and lots and lots of walking, we all made our way back to the bus, so that we could go get BePa’s car and go home. There was a lot of moaning and groaning coming from the grown ups about how tired they were and how much their feet hurt. I guess next time, they will take a tip from me, bring their stroller along and nap while someone pushes them around for a while.

As if we hadn’t done enough already, on Saturday MeMa and BePa had a party at their house and all of the family and friends came over to visit. We ate and laughed and played in the back yard. I had lots of fun with my cousins, Summer and Ali who really took a liking to me and kept me entertained throughout the day.

Sunday morning rolled around and this big guy on a motorbike came and picked Mommy up for a bike ride around the city. I cried when she got on and left with him, but BePa said they have been friends for years, so I guess he’s cool. We met them for breakfast a little later, then went to Stillwater, Minnesota and walked around the town for a bit. It was really pretty there and the town was right beside the water. Later that afternoon, we packed up and went to a family reunion for Grandpa Cody’s family. Who knew I had so many relatives everywhere! There was, of course, more food there and we had lots of fun hanging out with everyone.

The next day was Monday and we all were a little sad that our trip was coming to an end. We packed all our suitcases back up, shed a few tears and said goodbye to BePa, MeMa and Aunt Steph before heading to the airport. It was such a fun trip and I can’t wait to go back to Minnesota and see all of my family again! I love them all and miss them already!
