My Second Birthday

I celebrated my second birthday last week, and let me tell you, it was a blast. Mommy and I went to the Pancake Pantry for breakfast where I had "Bears in the Snow" (bear shaped pancakes with powdered sugar and chocolate chips). They were delicious! Then we went to the Frist Center and looked at some cool art work. I got to do lots of fun activities in Art Quest too!

Later that afternoon, Mommy took me to get my hair cut. The lady there gave me a sucker, so I sat really still and let her do my hair. I look super sharp now.

On Saturday, we had my big birthday party. So many of my friends came and we had a great time. We had it at the Y, and they set up this huge slide and bouncy house for us to play in. I'm not a big fan of those, but I did enjoy riding around on the cars, shooting basketball and going down the kiddie slide. We also had face painting, but I was far too busy to take time out to do that. After we got finished playing in the gym for a while, we went into the party room. Mommy baked all of us kids a miniature train cake that we got to decorate ourselves. Then they turned out the light, sang Happy Birthday to me and I got to blow out my candles. After that, it was time to open all my gifts. I was excited for that part, and said "WOW!" and "WHOA!" as I tore into each one. I got so many cool things and the party was a blast!!

The most special part of my birthday was that my auntie Steph came all the way from Miami to visit me. She stayed at my house for a few days and we played trains, read books, went to the park and watched Ratatoullie together. It was so awesome to have her around! She had to go home on Monday and we are all really sad to see her go. Hopefully she can come back and visit soon. I actually think that she and uncle Pat should just move to Nashville for good though. - Will -

Update

Since I turned two this week, we thought it was time to take that "baby" word out of my blog title. Mommy was a little resistant, but I told her I would always be her baby no matter how big I get. I saw her get a little teary eyed, but she pulled it together and updated my site. I think it looks much better this way.

I'll be back next week with pictures and news about my birthday festivities. The big party is tomorrow. Hope to see you there! - Will -

My First Masterpiece

I broke out my new paints and created my first masterpiece. I'm not trying to be vain or anything, but I think I'm destined for great things.

Christmas 08

We had a great Christmas holiday this year. To get in the spirit, Mommy, Daddy and I put up our tree right after Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun hanging all the ornaments and stringing the beads. Mommy says I was a great helper despite the fact that a couple ornaments got broken.

Another fun thing we did for the holidays was visiting the Grinch on Ice at Opryland. GrandDaddy and GrandMomma took us all and we had a blast. It was really cold in there, but they gave us these huge coats to wear and Mommy made sure I was bundled up extra tight. You should have seen all of those sculptures that were made of ice! It was pretty amazing!

I also got to sit in Santa's lap. TWO different Santa's actually! I'm not quite sure how there came to be two of them. I think one of them must have been faking it.

When all of our shopping was done, and we had driven around and looked at all the lights there were to see, Christmas Eve was finally here! We went to GrandDaddy's house and celebrated with them. I had been preparing myself to tear into the presents. I kept eyeballing them beneath our tree, but I was a good boy and didn't touch any until Christmas came. When the time was right and Daddy gave me the go ahead, I ripped into my gifts.

I got so many cool things! Lots of Thomas the Train stuff, clothes, a garage, a boom box, puzzles and books. (Note: Now that it is mid January, Mommy and I have read the Thomas book in the above picture no less than 1000 times. Thanks Uncle B and Aunt Allison!) We also ate a bunch of yummy food and GrandDaddy even gave me a drink of his sparkling grape juice. I played with my cousins and then we headed home to get ready for Santa to come.

That night I went to bed early, because I knew Santa was on his way over. The next morning when I woke up, sure enough Santa had been there and left me all kinds of gifts! The first thing I saw was this cool art easel with paints, markers and chalk. Santa even wrote a note to me on it! I opened the rest of my presents and got more Thomas stuff, movies, books and clothes. It was awesome!

For the rest of the day, Mommy, Daddy and I just hung out watching Christmas movies, playing with my toys and taking it easy. We cooked a Christmas dinner and ate till our bellies could bust. It was the best Christmas ever!

The weekend following Christmas, Grandma Howell came to visit me and brought me more gifts! Am I a lucky kid, or what!? I got clothes and a puppy (not a real one...YET) and we ate and watched Ratatouille together. It was a nice day. The next day we went to Aunt Gigi's house and the whole family was there. And guess what....more presents! (Mommy and Daddy said they are going to need to buy a new house for all this stuff.) We ate and played until our heart's were content and it was time to head home. I was asleep within minutes of leaving dreaming about what a wonderful holiday it had been. - Will -

Halloween 2008

Considering that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, Mommy figured we should probably blog about Halloween now as to not skip over it completely. (You know how she slacks off sometimes.) Better late than never, right?

From My 2nd Halloween

Halloween was great this year. We visited a pumpkin patch named Honeysuckle Hill the week prior to the big day and went on a hayride, picked pumpkins and ran through a corn maze. They also had swings and slides and this huge sand pit filled with trikes and trucks that we got to ride. We got to see all of their animals too. They had goats, cows, chickens, rabbits, pigs, horses, and a dog named Trigger. That place was so much fun! We will definitely go back next year.

Another cool thing we did for Halloween was go to a party at the zoo. My friend Gavin and his folks came along too. We went on a hayride, toured this place called the Monster Lab and got to play looks of cool games. I even got to wear my costume to the party and everyone thought I was a pretty awesome pirate.

After all of these pre-Halloween celebrations were over, the big day finally arrived. Mommy and Daddy dressed me back up in my costume and took me out trick or treating. They were really proud and surprised at what a big boy I was. I walked right up to people's doors, held out my bucket and said "Trick or Treat." It was the craziest thing, people just started giving me candy for that! We walked from house to house until I had entirely too many treats, then headed home to survey my loot. Mommy and Daddy let me eat some chocolate and I enjoyed it so much that I took it into the bathtub with me and finished it off there. Then Mommy rushed me to bed before the sugar rush hit and I dreamed about what I want to be for Halloween next year. It's going to be hard to top a pirate. Argh!
